MEPs want stronger controls after breast implant scandal

In the wake of the breast implant scandal, MEPs are demanding surprise checks, national registers and better consumer information. The company PiP sold some 400.000 implants worldwide using an industrial silicone instead of a medically approved version. Tens of thousands of European women were implanted with them. A resolution spanning party lines calls on the European Commission and Member States to tighten controls. Available material includes an edited package.
