German Constitutional Court Judged with a European Spirit, Says Chairman of EPP Group

The ruling of the German Constitutional Court on September 7 decided that the European Financial Stability Facility (EFSF) and bilateral loan guarantees to Greece are constitutional and do not undermine the position of the German Bundestag or infringe the rights of German citizens. Joseph Daul, Chairman of the EPP Group, in the European Parliament said, "I retain the sense that it was a European decision towards more Europe. Because it could have been real chaos this morning if that court decided the contrary; that is that Europe doesn't exist, that we depend on the court of a country."
