EU-US Passenger Name Records Deal Debated

Members of the European Parliament's civil liberties, justice and home affairs committee have met in Brussels this week to debate the latest European Commission proposal for an air passenger data-sharing deal between the European Union and the United States. Twice in the recent past an agreement has had to be scrapped because of concerns about the security of data transfers from the EU. US law enforcement and counter-terrorism authorities insist a deal on passenger name records (PNR) will enhance security on both sides of the Atlantic.
