EU Energy Security: Building Strategic Partnerships

The EU imports most of the oil and more than half of all the gas it consumes, a fact that makes the Union vulnerable to disruptions in supplies and changes in energy prices. Europe's political leaders are therefore focused on enhancing the EU's energy diplomacy – its strategic relationships with supplier countries – in order to boost our collective energy security. This week the EPP Group has held a hearing to analyse the external dimension of the EU's energy policy. Available material includes soundbites from EU Energy Commissioner Günther Oettinger and MEPs Jacek Saryusz-Wolski and Alejo Vidal-Quadras.
